Small unmanned aircraft (SUA) have been gaining popularity over the past few years. The uses of SUA range from recreation and STEM education to professional deployment for powerline inspections, surveying, 3D mapping, search and rescue operations, aerial photography and filming, drone shows, etc. To safeguard the aviation and public safety in Hong Kong, the SUA Order (Cap. 448G), a piece of subsidiary legislation made under the Civil Aviation Ordinance (Cap. 448) will be introduced in June 2022.
